A
big thank you to Penny whose extensive sailing ability and years of
teaching experience make her a patient, positive teacher. Being
supported by the clear labelling of the yacht’s key components allowed
us students to be on the water on the first day enjoying an immediate
hands on experience of both equipment and procedures. She forewarned us
that we were going to ‘stuff up’, and I do not think we disappointed in
that department! She communicated to us the necessary processes without
any sense of pressure or panic. She provided a positive restatement of
the procedures and showed us examples.
The encouragement and shared celebration of the smallest achievement was such a great motivator and Penny made sure we left with a real sense of achievement.
