Season under way on Waitemata Harbour.

Sailing school starts in good wind

Nov 1, 2016

Season under way on Waitemata Harbour.

How wonderful to get under way for the season with good strong SSW and SE direction winds.  My first class W1 weekends had a great first ride down the harbour on Saturday with winds up to 27kn, with Endless Summers perfect rig for the conditions she just purred along.   With the terminology being the hard part on lesson one having plenty of wind makes that much easier.

It was quite cold but the sailing was great.

Sunday had a lot more sun and a little less wind from the  SE so not as cold, this lesson was working out how to set the sails for the direction you are sailing and 16 tacks were achieved to try to put this lesson into perspective.   Sail trim is one of the hardest parts of sailing to grab, but we will keep working on it.

Good sailing by all and it was just great to get back into the classes after a winter of little sailing.
