Catamarans

This round of the America's Cup world series is over after 4 days of exciting racing on the AC 45 Catamaran's.  Newport Rhode island proved to be a great venue for the sailors and the spectators.  Great racing was held each afternoon including a 500m speed trial across the wind, James Spithall won in 39 sec reaching 24 knots in about 14 knots of wind.

it was interesting to see Spithall and Coutts Oracle Team USA come head to head in the final of the Match racing.   Fleet racing was also a part of the regatta and to see 8 high performance AC 45 all racing together and over the 9 legs they all finished within in 3 mins of each other.

The overall winner of this regatta was Spithall Oracle Team USA.

The points so far this season have Emirates Team New Zealand in 2nd place.

I was fortunate to be alongside ETNZ when they capsized and have a couple of shots for you to see.
